Photography Gallery New Location
Originally my concept for Baron Von Foss Productions was to merge my personal projects, blog and IT related projects into one site. Overall this has worked well except for one area, my Photography Gallery. Currently it is embedded into the site using a standard thumbnail with a lightbox detail viewers.
Problem is, the gallery is too deep within the site to be found easily as well as not having what people are used to as a Photographers Site. Recently I opened an account with 500px, and will be using their portfolio tools to manage and create the site for Baron Von Foss Photography, or Blake Foss Photographer. My domain, www.baronvonfossphotographer.com is now pointed to my new portfolio.

Video Camera Test
A friend of mine held her birthday party at a local pub and received a unique birthday present.
I used this event to test my video camera under low light and mixed light conditions. When I started to review the video I saw that I could edit something together.
With a little color balancing, no noise reduction and some music the camera out performed my expectations.
Doing the edit also helped me get familiar with the transition from Final Cut Pro 7 to Final Cut Pro X.

BlakeVille’s New Direction
A couple of years ago I started working on what I thought would be a long term photography project called BlakeVille. The concept was to make dioramas of various sizes that told a story, then photograph them. Simple.
The goal was to eventually have a body of work that I could present to galleries to obtain a mixed media exhibition. There would be the images of BlakeVille along the walls and in the main room the diorama installations. The dioramas would be the most interesting aspect as many of them have their own lighting and some have moving objects giving them a life of their own.
As with many of my way too many ongoing projects BlakeVille started to fall to the wayside with several completed diorama never being shot and several diorama in various stages of completion. In another posting from today I outlined how I did a massive culling of my personal projects that will allow me to refocus on BlakeVille. (more…)

Project Culling

As with many of my way too many ongoing projects BlakeVille started to fall to the wayside with several completed diorama never being shot and several diorama in various stages of completion.
This is a major problem of mine and it is due to a personal reason that is none of your business. I have too many projects, then freeze up when I try to make a decision on which project to work on. In the end none of them do.
I had to change this and change it the right way by selecting key projects that I know I will finish as well as having a purpose and end goal. (more…)
